Bus Drivers Texting

Driving and texting  has been the subject of much attention.

Driving a vehicle while texting is six times more dangerous than driving while intoxicated according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

NY State has passed very stringent laws. See NYS Vehicle & Traffic Law Excerpts:

We reasonably expect to be safe on common carriers, correct?

But how safe would you feel knowing that the bus driver may be texting?

And, can texting more easily escape the eyes of vigilant passengers on other kinds of public transports?

And, it’s not just texting. It may be playing games on the smartphone, browsing, e-mailing, retrieving e-mails, etc. (look at § 1225-d. Use of portable electronic devices). Use your imagination…
